The Prince Rupert Community Arts Council is seeking paintings and photographs (print, slide, negative or digital) of Kitson Island Marine Park to be used for a brochure and display. We are looking for scenic compositions as well as depictions of activities past and present (picnicking, fishing, kayaking, beach combing). There will be acknowledgement and remuneration for selected works. Please contact Peter Witherly (250-624-9634) for submission details. KITSON ISLAND DAYS will take place July 2-3, 2011, as part of the BC Parks 100th Anniversary Celebrations.

RupertWrites 2011  Arts  & Culture Week Writing Contest
First Tracks: Writing  and Pioneering

From memoir to unforgettable moment! We want your fiction, creative non-fiction, or poetic interpretation of a pioneer moment in life. Writers from Prince Rupert and the outlying communities are invited to submit their work for this juried event. Cash prizes will be awarded for the best submissions: $150 first place, $100 second place and $50 third place. The collection of submitted work will debut in a spoken-word performance at Cowpuccino’s at 7:30 PM on April 13th. In addition, selected works will be published in an anthology.

Submitted pieces must be typed and no longer than 500 words. Page one must be a cover page including: your name, phone number and/or email, mailing address and title of the work. Your name must not appear on subsequent pages.

Deadline for submissions is April 1st, 2011. Your submission may be emailed to the Prince Rupert Community Arts Council or mailed to: Prince Rupert Community Arts Council, Box 341, Prince Rupert, BC, V8J 3P9
