🌟 Call for Artists: Prince Rupert Community Arts Council Logo Design Competition 🌟


​The Prince Rupert Community Arts Council (PRCAC) is thrilled to announce an open call for submissions for a refreshed logo that reflects our newly updated mission, vision, and core principles. We’re looking for a design that captures the vibrant, inclusive, and imaginative spirit of the arts in Prince Rupert and celebrates our place as a cultural beacon for the North.
This is a unique opportunity to help shape the visual identity of our organization for years to come—and to be recognized and celebrated by the community we serve.

What We’re Looking For:
  • A modern, and fresh feeling design in a warm colour palette
  • ​A logo that embodies our mission: to foster a thriving, inclusive, and elevated arts and culture scene that inspires and connects our community.
  • A logo that reflects our vision: a vibrant cultural beacon for the North, where creativity illuminates public life and art inspires innovation.
  • ​A design that aligns with our core principles: openness, curiosity, collaboration, and a commitment to excellence.

Prize: 💰 The selected artist will receive an award of $2,000 for the final design.
Deadline for Submissions: 📅 June 13, 2025

Submission Guidelines:
  • Open to all artists and designers (local and beyond).
  • Submissions should include: high-resolution versions of the logo in colour and black and white, a short description of the concept (max 300 words), and a brief artist bio.
  • Entries must be original and not infringe on any copyrights or trademarks.​

*Once we have made our selection, we'll request vector versions of the logo

Project OverviewPRCAC is seeking a creative, collaborative, and technically proficient web designer (or team) to redesign our website. The new website should reflect our renewed strategic vision and core values while offering an intuitive, user-friendly experience that is easy to maintain by staff and volunteers. We want a site that feels fresh and modern—like the ocean breeze on a sunny Prince Rupert afternoon.


Project Goals
  • Align website design with our updated strategic vision, mission, and core principles
  • Modernize the visual identity, including new colours, typography, and layout
  • Create an accessible, mobile-responsive site that is easy to navigate and update
  • Integrate backend tools for communications and engagement
  • Improve visibility of events and programming
  • Better engage our members, artists, and community partners

Key FeaturesThe new website should include:
  • Newsletter Integration & Design Assets
    Integration with Flodesk for easy newsletter sign-up and management, plus the design and delivery of branded newsletter templates


  • Membership Payment System
    Ability to join or renew membership online with payment processing (e.g. Squarespace Stripe, PayPal)


  • Events Calendar
    An easily editable events section for staff and volunteers to update upcoming workshops, special events, exhibitions, and performances


  • Content Management System (CMS)
    User-friendly CMS (preferably Squarespace, shopify or similar) with easy backend editing for non-technical staff


  • Photo & Media Integration
    Space for high-resolution photos and embedded videos to highlight local artists and events (we have budget to purchase new images from local photographers)


  • Accessible Design
    Fully responsive and WCAG 2.1-compliant to ensure accessibility across all devices


  • Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
    Basic SEO optimization, Google indexing, and clean meta descriptions


  • Analytics Integration
    Setup with Google Analytics or equivalent



Deliverables
  • Fully functional website that meets the criteria above
  • Branded newsletter templates and graphics for use in Flodesk
  • Design files and brand assets (fonts, colour palette, graphics)
  • User documentation and style guide
  • A training session (or recorded tutorial) for staff and volunteers
  • Support for at least 10 days post-launch to address bugs or question



Timeline
  • RFP Issued: May 1st
  • Proposals Due: June 13th
  • Selection of Designer: June 20th
  • Project Start: June 21stth
  • Launch Goal: July 25th



BudgetThe total budget for this project is $8000. This includes design, development, newsletter templates, integrations, and basic training. Photography licensing will be a separate expense, PRCAC will provide the new photos.


Proposal RequirementsPlease include the following in your proposal:
  1. Company or Designer Information

    • Name, contact info, and relevant background

  2. Portfolio

    • Examples of past projects, especially for arts or community-focused organizations

  3. Approach and Timeline

    • Your approach to the project, key milestones, and estimated completion timeline

  4. Technical Requirements

    • CMS recommended, hosting needs, integrations, etc.

  5. Project Team

    • Brief bios of who will be working on the project

  6. Budget Breakdown

    • Itemized costs for each project phase

  7. References

    • At least two references from previous client
