Prince Rupert Community Arts Council Awards 2023-24
Opening June 1- Closing September 30, 2023 -
There will be 2 PRCAC Awards of $1000 to artists of any genre who make some or all of their income through their art. Anyone can nominate an artist by sending the artist’s NAME, ART GENRE, EMAIL – and a paragraph outlining why the nominator believes the nominee should receive an award, to the PRCAC Award email address – artsawardspr@gmail.com
Open to Prince Rupert and surrounding communities – including Port Edward, Metlakatla, Kitkatla, Lax Kwala’ams, Hartley Bay, Oona River, Hunt’s Inlet, etc. but not including Haida Gwaii, the Nass Valley or Terrace.
Each nominee will receive an email informing them they have been nominated and ask them to send, by October 30th, the following information to the committee:
Outline of the nominee’s art career (portfolio)
Oct. 30 – Final date for submission of artist’s entry portfolio – The Awards Committee will then study the nominees’ portfolios, prepare a shortlist of winners (4 – 6) and determine the jury members (3)
Nov. 30 – Awards Committee forwards the shortlisted nominations to the Jury with necessary instructions.
Dec. 16 – Jury submits the 2 winners to the Awards Committee. The jury and Awards Committee and Stuck-On Design would need to be sworn to secrecy about the winners
Awards Presentation Event – Date to be determined but late January or early February
Each shortlisted artist would be invited to attend the event, and bring their close family and friends (5 – 6 each).
Each shortlisted artist would present their art at the event, in a way that is suitable for their art genre. It may be a video, a performance, a demonstration, or whatever is appropriate and possible. They can ask someone else do the presentation if they wish. Each of these artists would receive a certificate for their success in being a shortlisted candidate for our Awards.
After the presentation of the artists the two Outstanding Artist Awards would be made. Each winner will receive one of our trophies. The two Outstanding Artist Awards come with $1000 and a video session with Mike Ambach to be added to our collection of artist videos.

- Demonstrates that they are a professional artist.
- Awards acquired over time in the art (name of award and year won)
- Involvement in the arts community of Prince Rupert and near surrounding communities
- Three (3) arts and/or community based references (nominator can be one of the three). At least one who works in the same or similar field.
- A visual presentation of art work. This can be a link to a webpage, a DVD, scrapbook, photos of authentic pieces, etc. No actual work is to be submitted.
